There are several different mini-lift approaches, each similar to a facelift, though less extensive. These types of lifts are best suited to patients who are typically, in their early 40’s and 50’s. It depends on how “young” your skin is rather than your chronological age. Patients with early signs of aging are more ideal candidates. The advantages include a faster recovery and there is less downtime.
Most individuals are overwhelmed by the terminology of a facelift and want it to be minimal and natural. Not everyone is a candidate for these techniques. It is more important to have the laxness of the tissue tacked down to the anatomical areas of the face as when we were younger. Depending on your laxity, skin tone and the natural contour of your face, a facelift may be the better option. The effects of less extensive lifts may not last as long as those of a complete face lift. Our emphasis is on the natural look. Dr. LaPatka will help you decide the options that best fit your lifestyle.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How does a lifestyle lift work?
Although these procedures have been touted as the “weekend facelift”, they are neither a weekend recovery nor a facelift. The procedure uses threads of permanent clear suture with small barbs. The needle is advanced from behind the hairline under the skin and brought out past the area that has been “lifted” such as the cheek or eyebrow. The thread is pulled and the small barbs “hold” the tissues. Although an interesting concept, the longevity of such procedures is variable. |
