As the face matures over the years, facial fat loss contributes to a hollow, look that typifies the aging process. Options include surgical and non-surgical procedures.

Soft Tissue Fillers (Non-Surgical)
Soft tissue fillers are the most commonly used products to non-invasively treat areas of the face that have lost fat such as your lips, cheek and lower eyelids. They can restore the youthful vitality to your face that is seen immediately and have minimal or no downtime. These are discussed below.

Sculptra®
Sculptra is a product that has been used very successfully to restore the volume loss that is associated with the aging process of the face.

Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid, a material used in dissolvable surgical sutures for many years. The product is placed in the skin and creates a tissue response of collagen production to thicken depressed and hollow areas of the face. While the collagen begins to grow, the Sculptra product is gradually absorbed into the body. The collagen growth takes several weeks to show cosmetic benefit and will require more than one treatment session to achieve the desired result. The cosmetic result has been shown in the majority of patients to last beyond two years. Unlike Restylane® and Radiesse® that are used to fill specific areas, such as deep smile lines, Sculptra provides overall volume enhancement to the face.

Each session takes about 30 minutes to inject and is typically associated with very little recovery time. It usually requires subsequent treatment to achieve full correction.

JUVÉDERM™ and JUVÉDERM™ Ultra Plus
Juvederm is an injectable hyaluronic gel that gently reverses many signs of aging in fine lines and wrinkles, crow’s feet and thinning lips. It lasts for 6-9 months and can be made to last longer by a simple follow up injection.

Restylane®
Restylane is a made of hyaluronic acid gel. It provides 5-7 months of enhancement for volume deficient areas to sculpt the lips, the glabellar lines (between the eyebrows) and smile lines that extend from the nose to the mouth. This product can be combined with other products, such as, Radiesse for optimal enhancement. There is little risk of allergic response.

Radiesse®
Radiesse is a synthetic substance made of calcium hydroxyapatite, which is similar to the minerals found in our bones. It is an ideal treatment for deep lines, wrinkles, and volume contouring or replacement.

There are immediate results that last almost 8 months to a year, but treatments can be repeated sooner if you wish.

Fat Grafting (Fat Transfer)
Fat can be transferred from your abdomen or thighs to the area that requires enhancement. Fat transfers can be combined with facelift procedures. The removal of the fat from your body during this process does not constitute body contouring or liposuction.
